Questions on Planet POE-400 4-Port IEEE 802.3af Power Over Ethernet Injector Hub
From dwuyer at 19/06/2011 18:14
is this poe injector switch compatibel with Vivotek FD6121V?
when using this POE injector is an adapter not required at the camera end?
Hello dwuyer,
The Planet POE-400 is a multi-port injector only i.e. not a network switch (four network cables can be connected into one end, and when they come out of the other end POE power will have been added to each cable).
The Vivotek FD6121V is not POE-enabled, so can only be used with a POE supply if you use a POE splitter at the camera end to split the single network cable carrying power back to separate data and power cables.
My network equipment and solar UPS runs on 24V, is a similar unit available for 24V input? Or can this be adapted or take a 24V input?
Regards,
Gary
Hello Gary,
The Planet POE-400's mains PSU develops 48VDC for its supply, I'm unable to say whether it could be adapted.
Unfortunately, I don't know of any other similar 4-port injector.
we used POE-400 for IR dome POE camera model 720C-IP and IR poe camera model 720IP.but its not working. we tried several ways to get switched on it through poe-400 but all failed.thats cameras are all compatible with IEEE802.3, IEEE802.3u and IEEE802.3af standards.by the time i want to know that poe-400 will gives 12vdc from a single port or 48vdc from each port of the injucter hub
thanks.
Hello Shammi,
I'm not familiar with the cameras you mention, but the POE-400 supplies 802.3af compatible power over ethernet on each of its four ports. It should be simple plug & play, your data cable from the POE-400 will also supply the power to any poe-enabled network camera (except those needing high power, such as some PTZ cameras, which will need a POE+ 802.3at injector).
Is this device suitable/compatable with the sanyo HD4000P I've just ordered. I want the option to add cameras and want to be sure the voltage and power rating of the PoE device is appropriate and likely to provide some expandability.
Hello Stuart,
Yes, the Planet POE-400 is suitable for use with the Sanyo VCC-HD4000P, it is IEEE 802.3af compliant and can deliver up to 17.5 Watts per POE channel.
NB you will still need your own network switch, the POE-400 simply adds (injects) power to network cables en route from a switch to a POE device such as an IP camera.
