POS-1000 is ideal for applications where you would like to use Power Over Ethernet but the network device does not have POE capability built-in.
The splitter is installed at the field device end of the network, the network cable carrying the POE supply is fed into it. The splitter then extracts the power supply from the data signal and breaks the two onto two separate cables; a network cable for the data port of the device, and a standard DC power barrel connector to feed power to the device.
In this manner, even devices which do not have POE as a built-in capability are able to take advantage of the single cable POE installation method.
There's an explanatory write-up on POE technology in our 'Help & Info' pages.
