  • Does this model have a fan in it?
    
    I'm looking for cameras for recording environments, and need devices which are silent. "very quiet" won't do.
    
    Some PTZ noise is acceptable, but silence is required whilst they are stationary.

    This camera does have a built-in fan, it's quiet, but not silent.
    Perhaps the compact Axis M5014 would meet your needs? It does indeed make a noise when panning and tilting, but is silent when static.

    You need the optional extra 'HDMI Out Option Board VA-HDB90' for an HDMI output from this camera.

  • hi, the spec for this says "Indoors or Outdoors", but this doesnt look like an external grade camera, can you confirm the IP rating please

    You're quite right. That 'indoors/outdoors' attribute is a bit of a throwback to the early days of network cameras when some cameras, from certain manufacturers, were not suitable for outdoor use even if you installed them in a weatherproof camera housing (because sunlight could damage certain early CMOS sensors). So, we have an attribute which sometimes states - indoors only.
    
    The Sanyo VCC-HD5600P as shown in the webshop is in its indoor form. If you check the Sanyo CCTV Catalogue download or the Full HD IP Camera brochure you will see that Sanyo make a weatherproof camera housing for the HD5600 along with other accessories (for example part number VCC-HD5600EXCP would be the camera in a weatherproof dome housing with a clear dome bubble); wall-mounts, corner brackets, pole-mounts, power supplies etc may also be needed.
    You are also likely to need suitable software (from Sanyo or LuxRiot) to control and record the pan, tilt, zoom camera - and you may want to consider a PTZ joystick for the operator to use with the PC running the software.
