Product Description

Storage Options presents this fully integrated wireless IP camera solution. It combines a high quality digital video camera with network connectivity and a powerful web server, to bring clear images to your desktop from anywhere on your local network, or over the Internet.

The basic function is to transmit remote video over your IP network. The high quality video image can be transmitted at up to 30fps on a LAN or WAN by using MJPEG hardware compression technology.

The camera is controlled via a built-in Web server which supports Internet Explorer. Management and maintenance of the camera is simple; remote configuration, start-up and firmware upgrades can all be done via Web browser, over your network.

Product Questions

Questions on Storage Options Day/Night Wireless PT IP Camera SON-IPC1

  • From Rich at 03/05/2012 12:05
    • Being totally green and as dim as can possibly be in this field; I am looking for an 'idiot guide' to setting up an IP system! I initially require an IP camera for our stables (which are weatherproof but dusty!) and this sounds ideal. Mains power is available and indoors (10m away) I have a BT router connected to windows XP.
With my lack of knowledge the easier the better, but for obviously reasons I will need to be able to switch off the motion detector! Any help or guidance would be most gratefully received.
    • The EyeSpy247 range of cameras are probably the simplest to set up, or perhaps the D-Link models that allow myD-Link.
Accessing and viewing IP cameras from the same network is simple, just enter the camera's IP address into your browser (some models only allow access from Internet Explorer).
When accessing from the internet you need to be able to find your site (home/office/stable). Most people are provided with a dynamic IP address on the world wide web (updated randomly by your Internet Service Provider (ISP)). You can overcome this either by using a service from the likes of http://dyn.com/dns/dyndns-pro/ OR by upgrading your broadband contract to include a static IP address.
Then, you'll need to set up port forwarding on your router to enable you to see your IP camera from the internet (look for your router at http://portforward.com/ for further instructions).
Video motion detection is off by default and needs to be configured / set up to perform as you require.
      Hope that helps ...

    • can the camera be used outside in a sheltered area or is there an outdoor camera also i only need one or two cameras is there a package suited to my needs cheers john
    • Hello John,
Unfortunately, this camera is for indoor use only, we cannot recommend it for outdoor use. Outdoor-ready PTZ (pan/tilt/zoom) cameras are considerably more expensive (from £800).
For an outdoor fixed camera with wireless capability take a look at the Y-cam Bullet or the EyeSpy247 EXT & EXT+. Both Y-cam and EyeSpy247 provide FOC CCTV Recording Software with their IP cameras.

  • From SAB at 05/03/2012 16:15
    • Hi
I have Mac's only - will this camera software work on a Mac or is there an alternative you sell?
    • The EyeSpy247 PTZ works well with Apple Macs.

    • Does the camera come with a power supply?

Yes, the camera is supplied with a PSU, it's of the mains plug-top type, you can see a photo of it in the additional images beneath the main product photo.

  • From Tony van der Hoff at 08/02/2012 12:26
    • I see the data sheet requires Windows/IE.
There should be no good reason why I shouldn't use it with Linux/Firefox, can you confirm this is OK?
    • Hello Tony,

Yes, there are three browser modes which you can select with this IP camera - IE, Firefox, Javascript.
