The Vivotek FD8134V Fixed Dome Network Camera provides a vandal-resistant solution for both day and night coverage. Equipped with a 1/4" CMOS image sensor capable of resolutions of up to 1280x800 at 30fps, the FD8134V delivers megapixel resolution through a 3.6mm fixed lens.

The FD8134V supports the industry-standard H.264 compression technology, which drastically reduces file sizes and conserves valuable network bandwidth. With MPEG-4 and MJPEG compatibility also included, video streams can be sent in any of these formats for versatile applications. Each stream is also individually configurable allowing users to meet different constraints, thereby further reducing bandwidth and storage requirements. This then allows users to receive multiple streams simultaneously in different resolutions, frame rates, and image qualities for viewing on different platforms. The FD8134V can provide 24-hour outdoor surveillance and features true day and night functionality with a removable IR-cut filter and built-in IR illuminators.

Its IP66-rated housing protects the camera body against rain and dust and ensures operation under poor weather conditions. Furthermore, the metal vandal-proof housing effectively provides robust protection from vandalism.

The FD8134V also features tamper detection, MicroSD/SDHC card slot, 802.3af compliant PoE, and Vivotek's 32-channel recording software.

Questions on Vivotek FD8134V Vandal Resistant Fixed Network Dome Camera

  • From Jake at 15/04/2012 12:04
    • Hi
Could you tell me exactly how long the black cable is from the camera to the connectors please?
I'm worried that it might be a little short for my installation needs.
I'd be using POE and I want to install this camera under the soffit on a bungalow but not sure how best to route the cable as I cant route it inside the soffit unfortunately.
      Many thanks
      Jake
    • Hi Jake,

The cable to the camera connectors is 500mm long.

  • From Colin at 12/03/2012 19:23
    • I bought 4 of these from you to go with the free ST7501 viewer program running on a dedicated PC. Picture quality is absolutely fantastic however on a 1TB hard disk i can only get 3 days worth of recordings with the 4 cameras. Can i tweak the settings somewhere to improve the number of days i can store? Currently everything is set to defaults.
    • Hello Colin,
The camera's recorded frame rate has the biggest impact upon storage.
For instance, if you are recording video at say 20 images per second, then reducing this to 10 images per second will halve the amount of storage space required for a given number of days of video retention.
Check which video stream the software is set to record (this model of IP camera offers four individually configurable video streams), then log into the camera, select Video and adjust that stream accordingly as follows.

We recommend recording continuously, at the camera site, with the resolution set to the highest resolution that the cameras can deliver, using the h.264 video CODEC (the most bandwidth and storage efficient), and the frame rate set to 5 frames per second.

Always review some recorded footage at various times over days subsequent to making any setting adjustments to make sure that playback of recordings is suitable for your needs.
Glad to hear that you're pleased with the image quality from these 1 Megapixel IP cameras.

  • From John at 29/10/2011 12:06
    • Is the camera pan, tilt and zoom??
If so, can it be controlled from a remote computer?
Can the video be viewed on an Iphone?
Can I have 2 or more cameras on the same system?

      cheers,

      John.
    • Hello John,

It's a fixed dome, so not pan/tilt/zoom (PTZ).
You can access and view network cameras from a remote computer via the internet.
Yes, you can view from an iPhone - bear in mind that Vivotek's own iViewer iPhone App actually accesses their ST7501 recording software at site, so you may need to select another App for direct access to the cameras.
Yes, you can have lots of IP cameras on a single system - as a rule of thumb a PC will typically be able to manage recording from about 30 cameras.
If you just want remote viewing access without local/at site recording then you'll need to set up each camera to port forward to a separate port at your web IP address.

      Hope that helps.
