  • Hi i was interested in purchasing the y cam but im not to good with computers, do i need a static ip address or other information/items with this camera?
    I was going to put it my home for security and use my iphone/pc to monitor and record it.

    You don't need a static IP address. If your Internet Service Provider issues a dynamic IP address for your home internet connection then you'll need to use a service such as www.dyndns.com to find your home on the web, it's not too technical and it's free.
    
    You will also need access to the configuration settings of your router, as you'll need to set up port forwarding to enable you to access your camera from the internet - www.portforward.com shows all the necessary setup information to configure just about every type of router for use with the Y-cam.
    
    You can use the Y-cam hard-wired to your router, or connect it wirelessly - for wireless setup you'll need to edit some settings (in the same way that you do to add a laptop or any other wireless device).
    
    The new Y-cam SDs have the great benefit of a built-in micro-SD card slot, which lets you record 'in the camera'.
