QNAP reveal new Firmware V3.5.1

The Taiwanese NVR manufacturer QNAP has recently revealed brand new Firmware for their VioStor NVR range.

The new firmware holds two major benefits for VioStor users:

  • enables VioStor NVR Pro products, such as the VS-2004 Pro and VS-2008 Pro, as well as the VS-2004L and the VS-2008L to support 3TB SATA hard drives, such as the Hitachi Ultrastar 7K3000 and Deskstar 7K3000 as well as the Seagate Barracuda XT
  • enables the support of PSIA compliant IP cameras from major brands such as Samsung

As such, VioStor becomes a larger capacity NVR solution and is instantly able to support an extra 150 network devices. This is in addition to the already impressive 1,100 camera models from 47 brands that QNAP NVRs support to date!

The V3.5.1 firmware is available immeditately for download and installation.

QNAP Security Product Warranty Extension

QNAP Security have just announced an extension on the warranty of their entire product range with immediate effect. The warranty extension is free of charge and means that every QNAP NVR purchased after the 1st August 2010 now has a two-year warranty. The Press Release quotes Andrew Yu, product manager at QNAP:

QNAP Security NVR Firmware Update V3.5.0

Taiwanese Network Video Recorder specialists QNAP Security have released their latest Firmware update V3.5.0 for their VioStor NVR series for free. Their press release describes the key improvements of this version and new features such as:

  • Dynamic E-map: allows users to pinpoint the position of each IP camera on a multi-layered digital map.
  • Video Segment Backup to External USB Device: users can now back up specific video segments of the camera channels from the VioStor NVR to an external USB storage device.
  • Real-time Digital Watermarking: real-time digital watermarks are embedded to the videos of the IP cameras as soon as they are recorded to the VioStor NVR.
  • 16-channel Simultaneous Video Playback: the new V3.5.0 firmware has largely increased the maximum number of channels for simultaneous remote playback from 4 to 16 to enhance the efficiency of video investigation.
  • New IP Cameras Support: in addition to more than 1,000 models of IP camera and video server, QNAP Security has added the support for Samsung, Yokogawa, and ONVIF-compliant Bosch, EverFocus and Hunt IP cameras to its compatibility list for the VioStor NVR series.
