It's a NAS set up in a 77 series NVR, it only supports NFS. It seems to dump all cameras footage in a single directory.

So there are no retention settings. Seem to remember a setting in storage somewhere (days) but can't find it.

I have a DS-7716NI-14B with the footage. How do I make sure none of the footage is ever deleted (it was used at a festival to record performances and the cameras are now disconected).

@rompik do they just start backing up stuff from when NAS setup or will it in time backup everything? also the filenames look very cryptic, cant work out what files are for what camera and what day.

Interesting. Still think this must be deliberate. If the software is properly written network drives and real drives look the same to windows. Ive never found a piece of software that has this problem. Why they allow the software to be set up with a network drive is also a mystery. Also my...

OK, got it working, maybe... I added the NASandformated it. It took a while and put a load of MP4 files on the NAS. But non of them actually play and mediainfo does not indicate they are video files. what are they and how can I use them? Ben

Our supplier will not confirm if it should work or not, they have been 'investigating' or a cope fo days. If the software does not backup to network drives this would require hickvivion to deliberately add code to stop this. To a program, a network drive and a local drive look the same.

From what I can gather I set storage in NVR (to say when I want to record) but the NVR seems to have reduced functionality of motion (i.e. no-expert). Can I set storage/motion in NVR and set the expert parameters in the camera?

I know, but the event is 24/7 and it will not record while rebooting. No biggie, don't really care as I can do everything via camera interface.

Real shame. We are constantly tweaking settings as we are using them to record a few stages at a festival in Panama. The NVR is in a sealed air-conditioned server cabinet (sue to heat and high humidity here). So don't want to risk a reboot;(. Shame the software is so flaky.
