Backup current settings - do the upgrade with a lower version firmware. You may want to look for my other post, how I dealt with it, it may or may not work for you

I'm in agreement with the last 2 posts. I'm looking at the price of the DS-7608NI-I2/8P (I have the DS-7608NI-K2/8P) if it gives me better performance. But I also don't like the idea of buying into obsolescence. What's the options??

I had the same - i just plugged in 1 at a time, and reduced the quality. Once you have them all online, push up the quality again until you find the breaking point, I did this. My issue is badly terminated cabling.
