Hi,
I,m sure this is easy but I can't get anywhere.
I have an IP poe camera connected to a tpLink unmanaged switch.
I need to find the IP address of the camera to access and set up.
The switch is on a LAN with a netgear dg834 router.
The router's IP address list will not show the camera.
I believe that unmanaged switches have no IP address so I expected no
show there, but why no sign of the camera, and how do I get it's IP ?
Thanks

Hi, What brand of camera please?

That was quick!
It's an ElectriQ, but that is a stick on brand.
The product id is TC-NC9400 S3E-2MP.
I believe that is Genius Vision.
Cheers

Hmm, sorry, most manufacturers have a software utility that allows you to discover their cameras on your network - it will scan for recognised device Mac addresses - but I don't recognise any of those brands/codes.
Contact your retailer, or Google for the manufacturer's utility.
If you know the Mac address (may be shown on the packaging/product label) then you may be able to make progress using arp commands, but it's a bit old-school techie and there should be a utility to make it simple.

ok Thanks anyway. I can't see why getting an IP address from an IP camera would be so difficult.
