Accessing Cameras

My setup is Cameras - NVR - PC. I don't use a switch or router. On IVMS the only device that appears is the NVR. I can access the individual cameras and change some of their settings but not to the extent if they were independent of the NVR. I'm curious to know if there is a way to access the web GUI via a modified IP address or something. I'm thinking that appending the NVR POE port address of the respective camera to the NVR address should work. Anyone tried this?
