We are once again looking at a brand new camera from ACTi's new range. Today it's the turn of the ACTi E72, a 3MP outdoor dome camera. This is another great quality camera at an affordable price and is one of the products from ACTi that have really impressed us.

This camera has some great features. Shooting 15fps at 2048 x 1536, it has a mechanical IR cut filter and, using its on board IR LEDs, allows you to see at a minimum illumination of 0LUX up to 15 meters. It also has basic WDR (Wide Dynamic Range), making images with different light levels a lot clearer. This camera has an IK10 vandal-proof rated casing and is also waterproof, with an IP66 rated casing. The E72 also has on-board storage options via a SD card slot and uses PoE (Power over Ethernet), which is the preferred method of power of 95% of our customers. It is also quite compact, measuring 150mm in diameter and 116.9mm in height.

ACTi have released 3 different E7’#’ dome cameras:

·E71 - a 1MP outdoor dome camera
·E72 – a 3MP outdoor dome camera
·E73 - 5MP outdoor dome camera

Each of these cameras are the same in size style and shape. They also come in identical packaging. Why not take a look at our recent unboxing video of the ACTi E72:

This camera has its RJ46 jack inside of the case, which is accessed via two holes. Users are provided with a cable gland to attach to either of the holes to create a waterproof seal. You have a screw=in cover, to conceal the unused hole. Below we have images of the RJ46 port (with the SD card slot next to it) and with the gland attached to the camera.

To record a lot of our footage for this camera we used ACTis FREE NVR 3 recording software. This software allows you to view and record up to 16 Channels for free; you can upgrade for further cameras but this is a paid-for upgrade. This software comes with IOS and Android applications. You can also connect non-ACTi ONVIF devices, but ACTi do charge license fees for this additional function.

We also captured some sample footage of this camera that will hopefully give you a good understanding of the quality of this camera.

I feel that this camera would be a great purchase and once again I feel ACTi have gone above and beyond other competitors with regards to the quality, capability and price. I feel this weather- and vandal-proof true day/ night camera is suitable for many different environments; from small business, private, school or large-scale business.

ACTi have launched many new, high-quality cameras at amazing prices, which allows users to build a superior system at a low cost without losing any of the quality. This camera is the middle of 3 siblings, it is around £40 more expensive than the E71 (1MP) and £43 less expensive than the E73 (5MP).

The ACTi E72 is a great 3MP outdoor dome camera that offers great value for a high-resolution, waterproof, true day/night IP camera!
