Hello,

Have 3 ANPR camera all non P versions of DS-2CD4A26FWD-IZS only just started using the third and it had 5.3.4 160202 software, went online and all the versions that used to be there have gone leaving only V5.4.5 build 201106 where as my other two camera had V5.4.5 build 170302 so the same with different dates. Anyway updated the third camera and it works fine, i then noticed its the later GUI interface so i proceeded to update the two other camera that had V5.4.5 build 170302 with the later V5.4.5 build 201106, one works fine the other doesn't work as ANPR correctly anymore.

I'm fortunate i have others that work so i page by page click through all three looking for an off setting but everything is the same????

The issue i have is it doesn't work as it did, the others continued to work as if nothing has changed. However when you go to road traffic the detection type box is empty (see photo 201) where as it normally says vehicle detection as it does in the other photo of one of the other units (see photo 202). You can click the drop down box it is there, you select it and it gives you the option to then reset the unit, you select either option yes or cancel and it does nothing, also at the bottom it doesn't have anything in the lanes box or on the lines on the preview. When i go in with IVMS 4200 it has the lines in the preview i try and talk to the unit and it doesnt save the changes.

All three units are CCWR units

Ive copied in photos of a working and the non working unit, when i role it back to V5.4.5 build 170302 it goes back to the old GUI and works perfectly again.

Anyone any idea's?

Hi @fin

I would recommend you update to that latest v5.4.5 firmware build and then try a manual reboot on the Maintenance page and once it reboots see if those ANPR settings are now working correctly, if they still don't then we would recommend you hard reset the camera and start from scratch.

Dan it worked thankyou
fin, do you have a link for that firmware? i am running DS-2CD4A26FWD-IZHS with firmware V5.4.5 build 170302 and also want to update to V5.4.5 build 201106 so that i have anpr function and the new interface.

thanks.

thanks Dan, i upgrade the camera. after a factory reset the firmware works fine. do you know if there is a changelog whats new/improved/fixed in this firmware?

I also have a other qestion Dan, i have camera's that support facedetection but it dont work at all or very bad.
on most of the camera's the recorder say this function is not supporterd, but when i log in to the camera's the option face detection is available in the camera's firmware and the checkbox is activated.
i have a DS-2CD4B26FWD-IZS, DS-2CD2622FWD-IZS,DS-2CD4625FWD-IZHS,DS-2CD2T55FWD-I5 and a DS-7716NI-I4 with the latest firmwares.

is the face detection from hikvision so bad (algorithm), or bad implemented? sometimes it works, but it identify the wheels of a car aslo as a face!

thanks.

Hi @nwgreplica

For really solid, accurate face detection you need a specialist camera, all of the models you have listed above were good when they were first released but their face detection support was a later software addition and they were not originally designed to support that feature so that combined with the first generation of face detection software means the accuracy is probably not going to be great.

On newer models, the algorithm has improved and the accuracy is better, but still not perfect. The best results for face detection will come from cameras specifically designed for face detection/face recognition.

the strange thing is that the recorder claims that on some of the camera's that have facedetection, it gives the message function not supported!! but if i check the the camera interface the function is supported.
vca is enabled on the camera's.
and if i check the datasheets of the camera, hikvisions says support for facedetection.

greetings

dan, i took a look at the history of the firmwares of the DS-2CD2T55FWD-I5 camera's i found a remark in the releasnote of version V5.6.0 G1, G1+M. it says, Face detection picture can be displayed on NVR local live view. i added the pdf file . so it looks like face detection is suported in this camera!! did they removed it in the newer releases?? the camera is now running V5.6.6.

what i also found out, that there is no vca or dual vca funtion in the camera settings, that should explain the error mesage from the recorder that this function is not supported by this camera.

is it safe to downgrade the camera to this version?

thanks dan

Hi @nwgreplica

certain G1 cameras will support face detection but images will only be displayed NVR local live view which specifically means a direct HDMI/VGA monitor, the feature is not supported when accessing the NVR live view with a browser. You don't need to downgrade the firmware, if you have a direct monitor and a model that supports face detection then the feature should be supported on the NVRs local GUI.

thanks again dan for the quick reply .
no, it is even not working in the nvr local gui!! so thats a bit of a issue. in advanced options of image settings at the roi section i also can select enable dynamic face tracking but no show on the nvr.
how is it possible that the camera has no vca or dual vca option in the firmware? face detection worked in the past on this camera so it looks to me clearly that is is a firmware problem of the camera, the problem is that i dont know what firmware version it was.
i want to downgrade the camera to the oldest firmware and then upgrade the camera step by step unit i have the firmware where it worked on!!
im 1000% sure that it worked on the past, i was able to draw the minimum pupil distance in the camera gui and the images where received by the nvr, so im sure its firmware related.
can you ask hikvision about this issue? i want to get this function to work, but im scared that i brick the camera if i downgrade it.
when im at the customer i wil make some screen captures of the gui interface of the camera and the options it shows.
thanks again dan.

the same issue i have is on the DS-2CD4B26FWD-IZ(S) the datasheet say it have dual vca but the option is not available in the camera web gui!!

greetings

wil

There shouldn't be an issue going back to v5.6.0 firmware (you won't brick the camera, it will either install or it won't), but it's unlikely you will be able to downgrade beyond that as certain key firmware versions are coded as non-downgradable versions which you can't downgrade past. If the v5.6.0 firmware release notes mention face detection support then that would be the place to start.
