Avoiding network clutter

Hello,
I'm looking to buy a 16 channel NVR with 16 poe ports. I plan to connect the IP cameras direct to the poe ports and then connect the LAN port on the NVR to my network. Am I right in thinking that the streaming from the cameras will only impact the network if I'm running software on my PC (e.g. iVMS-4200 Client) to view the camera displays?

Yes, your understanding is correct.
The NVR creates a separate network domain range under its control.
The cameras reside in this network/domain.
Traffic between the cameras and the NVR remains within this network, until you access the NVR/cameras from your PC/mobile phone etc.
