Best file type to format SD card to?

Should SD cards be formatted in a PC/laptop before formatting from the camera's Storage Management?

If so what file Format System should be used?
What Allocation Unit Size should be used?
Should Quick Format box be checked, or unchecked?

Sorry, just a quick half-answer as I haven't done this in a long time.
I used to find that formatting in a PC could sometimes resolve problems with the cameras use of microSD cards.
I cannot remember the correct format (I guess the manual states it, of the contextual help on the configuration page).
Yes, using quick format is fine.
