Hello guys,
i'm designin a videosurveillance system to use more than 8 cameras, 4 Mpx with some perimeter protection feature like region entrance, line crossing, etc
i'm planning to run the detection on the camera, so on the NVR side i'm not interested in having detection feature.
so looking at the several model i found the DS-7616NI-M2 which seems to be a basic version able to work with acusense camera able to performe peremeter protection
on the other side, since here in italy we have distributor and reseller selling different product i found also the acusense version DS-7616NXI-I2

comparing the spec i see that the M series has 256 Mbps incominb bandwidht against the 160 Mbps for the NXI version
also the decoding capability for the M series mention 20-ch@4 MP against Disable AI by NVR: 32-ch@1080p (30 fps) for the NXI (not sure how to compare with the M-series value)

looking at some calculation on the web, for my configuration it seems not a big problem having an NVR with less incoming bandwith like the acusense
having 160 Mb for 16 camera, it means 10 Mb per camera.
considering the H265 compression should be less than 3 Mb per camera. so the whole NVR shoudn't have any problem in my case even if with less resources than the M series.

do you have any experience or feedback to share?
this will be an installation on a farm. so not the more crowded place to control.

finally as i mention in another thread i'm looking for the one key disarming feature which should be included in the acusense for sure (not sure about the M series)
so the acusense version probably can be ok for my need

i appreciate any feedback

thanks
regards

Hi @Darkangel

Bandwidth is a big factor, but if you are using mainly 4MP cameras, this won't be a problem for either the M-series or I-series AcuSense, as each camera will be well under 10Mbps.

The biggest advantage of the AcuSense NVRs is that they can apply AcuSense features to a limited number of non-AcuSense cameras, which makes them a good option for anyone who is transitioning from an old non-AcuSense system and wants to hang onto some cameras.

If it is a completely new system with only AcuSense/ColorVu/Hybrid Light cameras, we would recommend the M-series NVRs over the AcuSense NVRs.

You can find out more about the differences between these models by reading this forum thread:

FAQ: Which 8, 16, or 32 channel Hikvision NVR should I buy?

On top of the two models you've already mentioned, there is now also the newest AcuSeek NVRs (DS-7616NXI-I2/16P/VPro), which come with Hikvision's latest AcuSeek/AcuSearch AI technology to improve smart event accuracy and allow you to search recordings for activity using word prompts.

See this extensive forum thread that covers the first reaction to the new AcuSeek NVRs and the changes/improvements that have happened in the first 9-10 months - VPro (Acuseek) NVR - First Impressions

Hello @Dan
i really appreciate your answer. the link you posted is very interesting. i've a question i'll post on the other thread ;)
my installation will be a new one, so no old camera to manage. probably all the camera will be the DS-2CD2343G2-LI(2U) with a range to control up to 20mt max
here in italy the M seriers are sold by reselleres that as per hikvision statement doesn't provide any support and also upgrade for the NVR firmware
while the I-Series are sold by partners that are able to provide pre and post sales support and firmware upgrade for NVR

so it seems they force the user to buy from partners against reseller unless you don't want any support for the product.
reselleres can sell HiWatch product which include the M-Series+
partners can access the ProExpert product which include the I-Series

of course also the camera they can sell are different between the two way to buy

so i'm thinking to what is the best way to proceed and i've to be honest i'm a little scared about the support hikvision mentioned i won't have buying from a reseller.
thanks again

Hi @Darkangel

It is standard practice by Hikvision across all global regions to recommend that customers purchase their products from authorised resellers/partners if they want to get access to Hikvision support.

They do this because the global CCTV market has been flooded with Hikvision grey Chinese imports, which are sold to customers as being genuine Hikvision products for their region.

Once the customer installs them, they find out they are actually Chinese import products with Chinese firmware that they cannot use.

So, only offering support to products purchased from authorised sellers discourages customers from purchasing the unauthorised imported products.

It seems unlikely to me that Italian authorised sellers wouldn't be able to sell M-series NVRs.

Looking at the Italian Hikvision website, they are labelling the M-series NVRs as 'Ultra Series NVRs', which are a step above the 'Pro Series NVRs' like the AcuSense NVRs.

Maybe try asking the authorised partner who is selling the I-series NVR if they can also supply the DS-7616NI-M2 NVR.

Hello @Dan
i attach the two catalogue you can also find here
i asked to the hikvision support who can sell the M-Series because the one distributor i reached was not able to find it in the sales tool and hikvision answered that it can be sold by electrical material retailers
at the same time the distributor i reached was able to quote only the ProExpert product

so it seems that while both distributor and electrical material retailers are hikvision authorized sellers, they have access to different product/catalogue
the M-Series is not available in both, while the camera DS-2CD2343G2-LI seems to be

thanks

Thanks @Darkangel

Very strange, I don't know why Hikvision has decided to divide up the product range like this in the Italian market.

Hello @Dan
i don't know too
also the distributor which was not able to sell the M-Series said that the DS-7616NI-M2 is EOL
is this something true? i found no information about that

thanks

We haven't had any information from Hikvision to say that the M-series NVRs are going EOL.

ok probably the information i got is because the distributor was not able to find the items in its portal and they deducted it was EOL

thanks
