Hi,

I was wondering if someone help me navigate the HikVision download portal (its a bleeping nightmare). I'm trying to find the following NVR and camera's to update their firmware;
  • 8 Channel NVR: NVR-208M-A/8P
  • Mini bullet: IPC-B140
  • Vandal dome: IPC-D140
Any help would be greatly appreciated!!

The firmware for the HiWatch cameras can be found here:
DOWNLOAD PORTAL

The ReadMe document at the bottom explains which firmware for which camera.
This HiWatch section was only added to the portal last week.
I can't see any mention of firmware for the NVR.

Many thanks for your reply. I did actually find that page and tried the firmware but it rejected it.

Matched to G0 (It seems to be the only one with B140 in the string);

Gives the following error;

I'm afraid that we have no experience with HiWatch (we've never offered that range).
This is the first time that we have seen firmware for the HikVision HiWatch range available.

Try following our guide to 'How to update HikVision firmware'.

No worries and thanks for the help, I'll wait for a reply from my supplier.

Please let us know if you crack it, we seem to be seeing an increasing amount of requests for help with HiWatch products so it'd be great to be able to provide the answer, Thanks

Will do of course.. I thought I had, the "HiLook" folder has model marks that far closer resemble mine;

However these didn't work either :(

I did get a response from my supplier who simply said that these cameras aren't meant to be firmware updated, which isn't useful (or accurate).

Yes, although we never offered the range, I'm confident that was the official line - that HiWatch cameras could not be firmware updated.
HikVision shuffled the layout and folders in the European download portal last week, they added a lot of 2018 folders, and the HiWatch and HiLook folders were added.

Do follow our guide to updating your firmware, it has been honed over a few years e.g. you'll note that we recommend moving the digicap file to the root of your C: drive.

Possible problems / things we've seen in the past:
Sometimes, if you are coming forward too many upgrade steps in one go you'll need to perform an interim update first - not an option when what you've seen newly available is the only downloadable firmware we have come across for HiWatch.

Sometimes, the Batch Config Tool is able to succeed in completing an update when all other methods fail (NB zero experience with HiWatch - probably best to follow your supplier's advice):
DOWNLOAD PORTAL

I've just tried moving it to the root of the c: drive and the same error message comes back;

Not entirely sure I want to try the Batch config tool.

I think for now I'll leave them alone for now if the firmware has only just appeared.

I think those are HiWatch products.
I am not aware of any limitations on POE / cable length.
Standard POE should be good for over 100m.
Are you using home-made cables?
Perhaps buy and try a long manufactured lead?

yes,home made
First time i used cat5e and it did not work.Yesterday i bought Digitus cat7 (Products )and stil not work with 40m cable,with 15m cable works.
The surveillance kit it was bought from jmcsecure.co.uk but i have no support from them

There is probably something wrong with the way you are terminating (fitting the plugs).
There are lots of tutorial videos on YouTube.

It's unlikely to be the cable. As long as you have bought a good quality cable (not CCA - Copper Clad Aluminium).
You only need cat5e. Higher spec such as cat6/7 should also be fine if properly terminated.

Thanks for the reply
I'm wondering when i use 15m cable (home made,i fitting the plugs) why it works
I checked the 40m cable with a lan tester and it is good

Basic testers are only really continuity checkers - they check you have the correct pin-out.
There are may potential probs.

Fluke say:
While twisted pair can be straightforward to install, measuring its performance can be somewhat more complex. There are more than a dozen different measurements you can make to a twisted pair cable.
Unfortunately, full-featured network cable testers are very expensive:
Testers - Network Testers - Process & Specialist Equipment

In the meantime jmcsecure sent me an email and they tell me to use this scheme (white orange+ orange,white green+blue,white blue+green,white brown+brown) and it works

Ah, that's interesting - I did not realise that the HiWatch cameras were using the same firmware as the R6 Family cameras (R6 Family was Hikvision's Pro range of about three years ago).
