Hi,

We are planning on purchasing CCTV to install ourselves, couple of things I’m not too sure about one if which is the cabling from the camera into the loft, once in there it’ll be fine as I will have an PoE switch in there.

Mainly once we have decided on a location for the cameras how best to get the cable through into the loft, drill all the way through and hope it comes out in the loft, mount so that cable comes through into bedroom and then up into loft from there or junction box and run cable along soffit into the loft from the gable end....

Secondly we want it to cover 3 car drive and detatched garage with access gate between house and garage (1 camera), front door (2nd camera) and utility door and French doors (3rd camera). Thinking of 6mm FL, distances to be covered aren’t great so now need to decided on the three cameras to use for this purpose. Have read turret cameras are best but also that if too close IR’s can cause problems at night with flares as they are so powerful, area is pretty well lit, there is an up and down lighter above the garage. Camera covering this will be mounted on the house covering in front of garage and cover car/drive/side access entrance so not directly facing the light.

Will also need NVR, Hard drive and any associated cabling, budget upto £1000.
