Hi

Currently we have 2 models Hikvision 4-port NVR. The PoE version and the non PoE version.
I would like to ask if somebody on this forum has already tried connected them to a switch?
The model is DS-7104xxxx

What I mean is
NVR -> Switch -> IPCamera

The reason is that the distance between the NVR and IPCam is greater than 100 meters so
adding a switch is an option.

If this is possible, what port on the NVR should I use to connect to the switch? Is it the 4-port
or the single LAN port?

Thanks.

Hi Bien,

You'd need to connect the switch to the LAN port of the NVR and it will be able to find the cameras as they're all on the same network. After that you should be fine!

You'll still need to power the cameras in some way so you'd need either a PoE switch, PoE injectors or a 12V PSU.

Hi Kiernan.

Duly noted. I assume NVR and IPCam must be configured on the same network (192.168.0.x). Then Manually add each cameras and type their IPs, username, password.

Oki, got to get busy and hope evertyhing works ok.

Thanks.
