Hikvision DS-2CD2185FWD-I is getting very warm

Hi all,


I have just started using the Hikvision DS-2CD2185FWD-I camera and it’s powered using POE.
I have noticed that it’s getting very warm even the metal casing is very warm, is this normal for this model?
Also, is this camera suitable for outdoor use or just indoors (I’m just thinking if the camera gets very warm and the sun is shining on it, wouldn’t it be too hot for the camera) ?

Hi @rcoyet

The 2185FWD has IK10 vandal resistant housing and IP67 rated weatherproof housing so it is fine to be used outdoors.

Just to add to Dan's point...

You shouldn't worry about using the camera outdoors because of the heat, as they're designed to withstand high temperatures - the camera's datasheet states that it will work at up to 60°C:

Thanks for all the replies, they sound great.

I was just a bit worried because the camera is getting very warm and the direct sunshine on it might be a bit too warm and will cause issues.

Does anyone know if there is a Hikvision camera similar to my 8MP with built in Audio (Mic)?
