Hikvision DS-7216HGHI missing gaps in recording

I have a Hikvision DS-7216HGHI and for the past few months has been missing gaps in recording, so in ivms it will jump randomly.

It tends to have bigger missed blocks during the night with no movement, but is still quite random as even though there is activity some blocks will be missed during the day. 13 cameras and they all have missing blocks.

Not sure what hard drive is in it, but it was replaced about a year ago - is there a way to check what it is without opening it up? I don't really want to replace the drive to find that is not the issues.

It's on latest firmware, tried full reboot, format of HDD but nothing seems to correct it.

can't recall any settings being changed and we don't have any advanced motion detecting setup, it basically just a standard record everything system.

Is the HDD OK - check in Configuration -> Storage to see whether it tests as OK.
I'm assuming you can do that with a DVR.
We only sell NVRs.

Already did a scan and showing no problems. Eventually replaced the drive anyway with a wd purple, but still showing as gaps.

Can't seem to update as it says upgrading failed. The full model is DS-7216HGHI-SH when that firmware suffix is K1 or K2. Is this SH model a 'gray market' product?

Hi @scott2c

Your model is not grey market it is just an old model, it is a Turbo 1.0 model - DS-7204/7208/7216HGHI-SH Turbo HD DVR-Hikvision - and on the download portal this model is now listed as "phased out" which usually means there will be no future firmware updates for this model (unless there is a security risk that needs to be patched), the most recent firmware version the portal is showing is v3.3.4 - http://www.hikvisioneurope.com/port...nds/DVR/Firmware/Turbo 1.0/V3.3.4_Build170220

If you not already on this one then please update to it.

Thanks for the info, we are all up to date. We will be upgrading to nvr and new ip cameras at some point, but not sure what else to do in the mean time for this issue.

Looks like this might be sorted. It seems at some point a new version of ivms was installed on a users computer, which possibly changed the recording schedule to an alarm template which was linked to motion detection (although the motion detection is very poor) with the recordings in pink. This has been changed back to the all day template and is now recording in blue blocks.

Thanks for the update.
That's not something we would ever have come up with!
May help somebody one day :)
