I have a DS-7608NI-I2/8P NVR fitted with 2 x 3TB (6TB storage).
Firmware V4.40.015, Build 200616
Just went to review some footage from 21st Nov (approx 13 days ago) due to an incident being investigated and there is no recording?
Looking at my playback, I only have 3 days worth of recordings.
My NVR is set up to record 24hrs and I haven’t physically been on my NVR so what has happened to all my recording pre 3 days ago?
How can they disappear?

Solution
Think I’ve found the issue and what a fool am I !!!!!!
under the record schedule, advanced it’s got a value in the keep videos/pictures for 2 days!!!!
Don‘t remember editing it, but I suppose I must of.
So I’m forcing it to delete the videos.
arghhh I must win the idiot of the day award!!
Can you upload a screenshot of your playback calendar for November/December please?
There should be a little marker at each date - to indicate recordings.

Also, check your HDD(s) for health in the Storage section.

Hi Phil,
only have markers on playback for 2,3 & 4th Dec.
All cameras recording only from 14:18 onwards from 2nd.
Both HDD health is ”healthy”. Under S.M.A.R.T all status OK. Drives are only a couple of months old, as is the entire system.
Looking at camera HDD storage use each 4MP camera is Only registering around 210gb recording.
That ties in with only having recordings for a few days.
Previously I know I had records for about 1 month without issue.

Maybe check the Maintenance Logs and see if you can find anything untoward?

Are your Advanced Settings for Storage normal?

that is odd. I’ve changed it to 10 as above, but assume from above info it would of defaulted to 1Gb.
Looking at the start of recordings and there is actually a discrepancy on the recordings starting between cameras.
1 - 15:09:59
2 - 15:11:47
3 - 15:12:03
4 - 15:15:16

Right, really odd.
the Start of available recording is moving before my very eyes
the start times have now moved to
1 - 15:27:42
2 - 15:29:27
3 - 15:29:41
4 - 15:15:16

From this it appears to be overwriting?????

just out of interest and for completeness:
Does a value of 0 equal keep video until its overwritten by drive capacity limits?
I have now just put a value of 30 in there to keep for 30 days.

Yes, 0 equals just keep recording until the drives are full.
See #5 above, if there is a tick in the box to "Enable Overwriting" then it will overwrite the oldest recordings and in effect keep the HDD(s) always filled.
That is how most people run it.
