Hikvision Easy IP 4.0 vs Easy IP 3.0 vs Easy IP 2.0+. What is the difference?

We often receive calls from customers who are unsure of which range of Hikvision cameras’ are best suited for their system. With so many different options out there it can be hard to narrow down and select just one. In order to choose your system wisely you need to know the differences between the ranges and understand the features of these ranges.

Easy IP 4.0

First up is Easy IP 4.0; this is the newest range of Hikvision cameras and was released in May 2019. This range has built upon the functions of previous ranges and has two technologies:
AcuSense technology is based upon deep learning algorithms and features three key components:
  • False alarm filtering
  • Strobe Light and Audio Alarm
  • Quick Target Search
False Alarm Filtering

AcuSense false alarm filtering is based upon target classification which can filter our up to 90% of false alarms. Users can classify items in to human, vehicle and other and have alerts sent when a human or vehicle is detected but will disregard items such as birds, leaves, rain etc.

Strobe Light and Audio Alarm

Some of the AcuSense products have built-in strobe lights and audio alarm (speaker) to ward off any intruders. Users can set the strobe light to flash when an object such as a human triggers an alarm.

Quick Target Search

Previously users have had to browse through large amounts of data just to find the video clip you require. Now with AcuSense users can quickly retrieve video clips with humans or vehicles detected. Quick target search options can be found on local GUI for quick access to your required files.

AcuSense products can be used in a range of applications including; warehouses, car parks, campuses and town centres.

ColorVu technology provides colour surveillance 24/7, providing users with extra confidence that no matter the time of day their camera will capture vivid colourful images. Darkness can often provide a cover for theft, trespassing and other crimes, ColorVu technology lifts this veil with its warm supplement lighting.

Featuring F1.0 super-aperture the lens is able to collect more light to produce brighter images. This is 4X the amount of light compared to conventional cameras and 2.56X compared to cameras powered by DarkFighter.

The built-in, environmentally-friendly, soft and warm supplement lighting works to guarantee colourful images, even in complete darkness. Luminance is adjustable on a scale of 0-100.

*Please note; we have had reports from customers that the supplement lighting is brighter than they expected so be aware it may not be as soft/warm as the description from Hikvision leads you to believe. This can be adjusted but will affect the brightness of the image*

It is important to remember that the camera will either feature AcuSense or ColorVu technology no camera has both technologies built-in to the same camera. Make sure before purchasing that you have identified which technology will be most beneficial for your application.

Easy IP 3.0

Now we move on to Easy IP 3.0 which was released in 2017 and featured:
  • H.265+ codec
  • Up to 4K resolution
  • DarkFighter technology
  • Added VCA functions
H.265+ Codec

H.265+ codec cuts down bandwidth, decreases data storage requirements and improves overall system performance. This feature enables users to save time, money and resources. H.265+ saves up to 83% compared to H.264 and up to 67% compared to H.265.

4K Resolution

Easy IP 3.0 produced the first 4K resolution Hikvision cameras and thanks to H.265+ codec 4K video surveillance is possible without draining your storage. 4K resolution enables every pixel to come to like with vivid clarity.

DarkFighter

DarkFighter was originally introduced in Hikvision’s higher spec cameras and then made more accessible to a larger range of customers by being introduced into the Easy IP 3.0 cameras. DarkFighter technology is a low-light technology used to provide clearer images in low light scenarios.
*Please note; not all Easy IP 3.0 cameras feature DarkFighter technology. Please check individual cameras specs to ensure the model has the features you require*

VCA

Video Content Analysis is no longer just for high level security applications, Easy IP 3.0 brings VCA functions to smaller systems such as homes and small to medium businesses. The Smart Search Tool can be used for Alarm event and VCA detection and the Smart Playback function to replay footage. VCA functions includes:
  • Line Crossing Detection
  • Intrusion Detection
  • Unattended Baggage Detection
  • Object Removal Detection
  • Face Detection
Unsurprisingly Easy IP 3.0 cameras have been amongst the most popular of the Hikvision cameras due to the range and quality of its features. Its popularity is only continuing and increasing due to new releases in April of 2019 featuring a new design for some of the cameras and more added features.

Easy IP 2.0+

Finally we reach the Easy IP 2.0+ range; this was released in June 2018 and is very much like the Easy IP 3.0 range however has fewer features and so provides a slightly more cost effective option without too much compromise. The main features of Easy IP 2.0+ include:
  • H.265+ Codec
  • Up to 4K resolution
  • VCA functions
H.265+ Codec

See above full description of H.265+ codec (under Easy IP 3.0 heading). H.265+ codec works in the exact same way as above for the Easy IP 2.0+ cameras.

4K Resolution

Easy IP 2.0+ 4K cameras provide users with high quality 4K resolution at a more cost effective price point. Users can get the same high quality image as an Easy IP 3.0 4K camera but with less features and a max of 12.5fps when the cameras maximum resolution is set.

VCA

Much like Easy IP 3.0, Easy IP 2.0+ features VCA functions. However has fewer, these are:

  • Line Crossing Detection
  • Intrusion Detection
  • Face Detection
This range of cameras haven’t been as popular as Easy IP 3.0, however do provide customers on a budget with a great alternative.

Hope this helps to differentiate between each of the ranges. If you need any further assistance please don't hesitate to contact myself or a member of the team at info@use-ip.co.uk.
