Hikvision have released a new "Lite" version of their iVMS-4200 software:

"iVMS-4200 Lite is a abbreviated version of iVMS-4200. It provides basic video surveillance functions including real-time live view, video recording, remote search and playback for the connected devices (such as DVRs, NVRs, network cameras, network speed dome, etc.). It meets the needs of small-sized projects, such as a small-sized supermarket, an apartment, etc."

Please find a specification and user manual attached.

From the information provided it looks as if this will suffice for most SOHO/end-user solutions.

It doesn't seem to be available for download from the European portal yet.

You can find and download it from this page at their website:
Client Software - Hikvision UK & Ireland

At the time of writing V2.5.0.5 seems to be the latest version.
(fourth up from bottom on the above-linked download page)

The Lite download is approx. 100MB, compared to 230MB for the full iVMS-4200 version.

Caveats:
We have not tested this yet.
I can see several anomalies regarding dates e.g. I cannot recall ever seeing a Lite version before, it is marked as NEW! at their website (China & UK), but contains date references going back to 2015.

If any body has the time/interest to test, then we'd welcome any feedback you feel able to leave here, Thanks.
