Hikvision NVR admin password issue - could the NVR have already been configured before?

Hi all,

I setup a hik NVR over the weekend and My understanding was that it should prompt you to setup an admin password first thing.

I wasn’t able to do this, so I ended pressing the little reset button inside the NVR

I was then able to get in and do the rest.

so my question is ... could the NVR have already been configured before?

Thanks

That's a hard one to call.
I guess we can say that your initial experience/findings should have been as they were after you reset it.

Did you purchase it with a hard disk pre installed? Sometimes the supplier will temporarily set the password to install the disk and load the latest firmware. I've previously been supplied with one that the supplier had forgotten to "restore to inactive status" before shipping it. Nothing sinister just an oversight.
