Hi all so I have 4 cameras and I tried to fit the rj45 connectors but really did struggle some worked some didn't maybe because they were cheap in the end I got some Ethernet cable with the connectors already on cut cable in half and joined my cable to it seems to work OK 1 camera works then it doesn't so I was going to replace the rj45
Should I just buy a extra Ethernet cable and cut in half or start again with good rj45 connections

if you are going to terminate RJ45 connectors use a cable tester to make sure the connections are correct. Zooming into one of the connectors the blue pair seem to be split by green. It is better to buy a ready made ethernet cable of the correct length. Cat5e should be ok for most domestic applications.

I had trouble wiring my own RJ45s at the beginning but I now have almost 100% success rate since I cut the wires shorter than the illustrations in the guide I was following. The shorter wires stay together better and feed more easily into their channels. And yes, definitely use a [cheap] cable tester before you fix the cable in place. For occasional rapid deployment inside the house, I also use some Kenable flat pre-wired and white [other colours are available] cables which come in small increments from 0.3m up to 6m and then 5m increments up to 30m.
