Y-cam Mac Setup
If you visit this downloads page at Y-cam’s website you’ll see a download link for Mac Setup Software.
This may be on the CD with the camera, but you can be sure that the download will be the latest version.

There’s a Word document ReadMe file with the download which gives you a step-by step guide to configuring your Mac’s network settings for the Y-cam (appropriate to whichever Mac OS you are using).

DYNDNS
If your home internet connection, as provided by your Internet Service Provider (ISP), has a dynamic IP address, then it’s a good idea to register for a free dyndns account at www.dyndns.com
This will provide you with a friendly url such as ‘myhome.dyndns.tv’ which will track your changing web IP address for your home internet connection (essentially enabling you to always locate your home router from anywhere on the web, even though your ISP changes the web IP address for your home internet connection).

Port Forwarding
And finally, if you want to be able to view through your router’s defences to see your network camera (which is on your Local Area Network (LAN), under your router’s control) then you’ll need to set up Port Forwarding on your router for your Y-cam (or any other IP camera).
The simplest way to configure port forwarding is to follow the guide for your router at www.portforward.com
First, find your router in the big list at that landing page (sorted by router Manufacturer’s brand names as sub-headings, with actual router models underneath).
Find and click on your router model.
Currently the next page is a full page advert (it’s how they pay for the service), so if you’re not interest in the advert then click on the link at the very top right “Click here to skip this advertisement...”
The next page is the specific instructions for your router make and model.
Read the overview guide at the top of the page.
Below this you will find links for hundreds of products which you might want to configure port forwarding for including the Xbox and Playstation as well as IP cameras.
Virtually at the very bottom-right of the web page you will find a link for the ‘Y-cam wireless IP camera’ – click on this link and follow the setup guide.

Y-cam are working on their own free iPhone App for Y-cams, but it’s not available just yet.

Hope that helps ...
