Hi, i am changing my NVR (Vortec POE) to a HikVision DS-7608NI-I2-8P and want to keep existing cameras for a while.

Is there a way to change the IP address of the cameras while they are in situ? I understand how to do it “on the bench” with a 12v supply and PC on corresponding IP. But can it be done over POE from the NVR, when their IP addresses are totally different?

Maybe / maybe not.
Does your camera manufacturer provide a utility similar to SADP from Hikvision?

You can connect your laptop/PC to one of the NVR's camera ports.
It will then be on the same network as the cameras.
The sub-network managed by the NVR.
If you have and can run a utility which is able to find the cameras regardless of their current IP addresses (like SADP does via their MAC address) then you should be able to edit their IP addresses.
