Hi,
we have a Hikvision DS-2XS6A25G0-I/CH20S40 Solar Panel Kit, the camera works fine, we can record videos and picture on a miniSD and see them by IE access and by 4G. But we cant read the microSD on the laptop, when the microSd adapter is plugged in the laptop, windows doesnt recognize the hikvision format and ask for formatting.
The firmware was updated by iVMS 4200.
The miniSd card was formatted for hikvision camera by IE browser.
The miniSD is a kingston 32gb, class 10
The hikvision codes was downloaded.
any idea please?
Thanks a lot and sorry for my english.
Regards,
Sergio

Hi @SergioFB

We were not aware of this issue with the MicroSD cards.

In the past when we made YouTube videos of us testing the Hikvision cameras we had extracted video files directly from the cards so something must have changed with the newer Hikvision models. We took this to Hikvision support and they came back with the below response:

We don’t have a ready solution from Hikvision for video&Log export, but in order to support the end-user, there is a useful tool to read the SD card. This tool is Freeware Linux Reader™ for Windows. The requirement is as below:
1) If your PC is using Microsoft Windows, you can not read the SD card, because our IPC/NVR is based on Linux OS. You can use Linux Reader for File View.
2) The SD card of IPC is not encrypted, otherwise it can only be viewed through VMS or web side via the device.

So because the Hikvision products are built on a LinuxOS, the MicroSD cards are also formatted to work on Linux and are thus not readable on Windows or Mac. We have tested the Linux Reader Tool and it worked for us so this is what we would recommend if you need to extract whole RAW files from the MicroSD card.

(FYI - When we tested it, the PC did still throw up the error message about formatting the card but if you just ignore this and open the Linux Reader tool the card should be visible in that tool)

HI Dan, and thank you very much for your help, you are right and the Linux reader tool was he solution, great!...
