My QNAP NVR (VS-2008) won't display my ACTi IP cameras?

Brand new QNAP VS-2008 NVR. When I try to add my four ACTi ACM-4201 IP cameras it won't connect and show the live video from the cameras.
It recognises that the cameras are on the network.
It shows "Connecting" for 10-15 seconds, but does not actually connect, it just fails back to a black box with no video.
If I right-click on the black box area there's an option to connect directly to the camera using my laptop's browser (IE7) - this works just fine and I can see live video from each camera.

Your QNAP NVR needs the camera's user and password

Below the black window where the live video should show you'll see a small 'Test' button.
Click on this and enter the camera's user name and password.
Default user name for most ACTi IP cameras is admin.
Default password is 123456

The QNAP NVR should then be able to successfully connect to the cameras.
