Hi All
I have been following this wonderful forum for a while now and have finally decided to take the plunge into the CCTV World, with the intention of purchasing for my own home and mother/fathers.

My freind has a system he purchased from Amazon, i have seen it and looks nice, however i am only a novice with very little knowledge on what is value for money/up to date/etc

My prorities is..to be clear as possible, good night vision, vehicle vrm readable, zoom function.

The total price for this Hikvision system on Amazon is £880, to which the system includes:

1x NVR 8 channel Hikvision - DS-7608NI-K2/8P

2TB (pre installed)

1x NVR power supply (3PIN UK TYPE) and mouse

4x CCTV 4MP IP Dome cameras in white DS-2CD2347G1-LU

4 x LAN cable (one for each camera selected: 1st camera 20m, 2nd 10m etc..) white cameras will have white cable and grey cameras will have black cable sent. Colour change available upon request.

1x HDMI 2m cable

1x User manual & CD

Hi @mistikempire

both Amazon and CCTV Direct are unauthorised Hikvision resellers and so Hikvision will not uphold the warranty if you buy from either of these companies and there is a risk that the products from unauthorised resellers may be Chinese 'grey' imports that don't use UK firmware.

use-IP Ltd is an official Authorised Reseller Partner of Hikvision.

All of our Hikvision products are official UK products with UK firmware.

Any Hikvision products you purchase from us will have the full factory backing.

We have been IP camera specialists since 2008, our broad offer, support and experience makes us perhaps the best place in the UK to purchase IP cameras and solutions.

Comparative cost for official UK is about £1100 but totally agree with Dan. You take a big risk when buying via unofficial sites, especially via Amazon where the seller hides behind the marketplace banner and has, as in the case of the seller on the link you posted only 1 review. If I were spending this much cash I would buy from a known, trusted, accessible, source like USE IP. There are many others and my local one is a bit cheaper. Sorry can't say who, it would be an injustice advertising competitor on here.

At one time in the past I had the same dilemma with Canon EOS camera and EF lenses. I opted to buy from UK based reputable retailers and did not go for grey imports.

Sometimes a few quid saving seems a good idea but when it goes wrong, it goes wrong.
