Hi, today i upgraded my HiWatch NVR to V4 version ... Everything is fine, everything is working. But there IS something like "PoE management", where i Can choose between "short cable" and "long cable". Im using 50m cat5e cable, and from default, IT IS set Up like short. And its working. What does that mean ? When should i choose "long cable" ? Thanks

Hi @Chucky,

I don't have much experience with the HiWatch NVRs but the Pro Series NVRs have a similar "long-distance PoE" setting, which allows you to to extend Cat5e cable to 100-250m.

For 50m cables, the "short cable" option is fine. If the case is the same as the Pro Series recorders, you should only need to use this setting for cables that are 100m or longer. It's also worth noting that the "long cable" setting will likely reduce the power budget of each of the other ports when active.
