Scuppered by a cobweb

You wouldn't think a small cobweb would cause any problems on one of these infrared IP cameras. Think again, I put a camera up at the front of my garage this afternoon and a spider has already made a small web. The small strand of spiderweb is playing havoc with the infrared. Basically, it's cancelled out the infrared altogether.

I have just realised that the branches from a tree are also causing the infrared to fall short of the distance they can work to.

I use a blow torch. There is some spider spray you can buy from CCTV retails that apparently keeps them away, no idea how good it is

What I do not like about the Hikvision cameras I have purchased is that the end of an ethernet cable will not pass through the waterproof connectors. You would have to have the knowledge to put on the connector after you have threaded on the connectors. So I have had to do away with the connectors and use amalgamating tape, or liquid tape.
