Surveillance Centre location

Would someone be kind enough to explain a little more about how the Surveillance Centre and notifications work? For clarity, I'm not asking how to configure them, more how they function. For example, when an IP cam or an NVR is configured under smart events to "notify surveillance centre" where is this surveillance centre running... on a networked NVR... on Hikvision servers, and is this the same location that delivers the push notifications received by the Hik-Connect iOS app? Thank you.

Hi @rosswill

In the majority of cases the "notify surveillance centre" option will send your notifications to the Hik-Connect app, so if you have this enabled and notifications in the app enabled you should start receiving push notifications to the app.

The term "Surveillance Centre" is an old term and we don't know why Hikvision has never changed it to make this clearer.

Thank you @Dan, so am I correct in assuming if there is no notification centre as such, that for a camera configured (non-NVR configured) notification to be received anywhere, this camera needs to be have platform access Hik-Connect enabled and registered in order for the app or any other device to receive these?

All Event notifications are logged whether you are managing the cameras with an NVR, with iVMS-4200, or just the camera on its own. The Email notifications & notify surveillance centre (push notifications) are just additional in case you need to be notified remotely of event triggers.

On a direct monitor connected to an NVR you will see live notifications appear next to the bell icon in the top right of the screen, while in iVMS-4200 if you have 'notify surveillance centre' set and don't have the app installed or event notifications in the app are disabled then all your notifications will be sent to the Event Center tab in iVMS where you can either see the notifications live or search older logged notifications.
