Dear members, I am look for advice on how to build a reliable server to install vast2 software we are looking to manage 500 camera including 45 vivotek fish eye model.

Any advice would be helpful

Vivotek's product page for VAST2 is here:
VAST2 | Scale Operations | Plug & Play Auto Setup - Thumbnail & Smart Search - 2.5D Visualization eMap - Problem Feedback Mechanism | VIVOTEK

Take a look at the system requirements tab.

NB
Recording Throughput 1 Volume Group: Max. 200 Mbps**
** Maximum number bitrate of cameras not to go over total recording throughput.

This is your bottleneck limitation per server.
Disregard their camera counts - often claims are made based upon 720p cameras.

Enter your camera type, CODEC etc into a bandwidth calculator such as the one at our Blog:
IP Cameras and IP CCTV IP Camera Bandwidth and Storage Calculator

It indicates that you will only be able to manage about 80 2MP cameras at 10fps using the h.264 CODEC per server.

You will need multiple servers.

For a project of that size I would recommend discussing it with the manufacturer to ensure the optimum server/software design.

And, make sure that you tell them your whole requirement - things such as monitors, viewing stations e.g. number of viewing locations, and monitor walls (how many monitors displaying what, where) that you require can have a big impact upon the solution.
