The Vivotek FD8134V Fixed Dome Network Camera provides a vandal-resistant solution for both day and night coverage. Equipped with a 1/4" CMOS image sensor capable of resolutions of up to 1280x800 at 30fps, the FD8134V delivers megapixel resolution through a 3.6mm fixed lens.
The FD8134V supports the industry-standard H.264 compression technology, which drastically reduces file sizes and conserves valuable network bandwidth. With MPEG-4 and MJPEG compatibility also included, video streams can be sent in any of these formats for versatile applications. Each stream is also individually configurable allowing users to meet different constraints, thereby further reducing bandwidth and storage requirements. This then allows users to receive multiple streams simultaneously in different resolutions, frame rates, and image qualities for viewing on different platforms. The FD8134V can provide 24-hour outdoor surveillance and features true day and night functionality with a removable IR-cut filter and built-in IR illuminators.
Its IP66-rated housing protects the camera body against rain and dust and ensures operation under poor weather conditions. Furthermore, the metal vandal-proof housing effectively provides robust protection from vandalism.
The FD8134V also features tamper detection, MicroSD/SDHC card slot, 802.3af compliant PoE, and Vivotek's 32-channel recording software.

Product Questions (9)
Can the cable be removed from the camera and replaced with a cat-5 cable? I don't want all the other cables coming out of the camera?
Question by: Mike on 18 Jan 2013 16:05:16
Sorry, I'm afraid not with this FD8134V model.
The cable has to be retained.
You can use their 'L' shaped bracket and conceal the cable within that, or mount the camera on a weatherproof box.

I am looking to install one of these to my Synology NAS - capabilities look great but I want to ask if I can turn OFF the night vision and IR LED capability in this camera's settings? Or if you could recommend an HD (minimum 720p) camera for this purpose. I have installed a floodlight which will be behind the camera position and so I don't want the camera to stay in night mode when the area is flood lit. I am trying to avoid "white-out" of faces and think this would be the way to go by using the floodlight and keeping the camera in "day" mode for colour operation and best image retention. Any info would be greatly received as I'm looking to get a camera installed very soon.
Question by: Graeme Coulson on 3 Dec 2012 19:54:19
It's not possible to disable the IR LEDs in the Vivotek FD8134V settings, but you will find that when the floodlight illuminates the camera will quickly switch back to colour/day mode (about 2 seconds).
You are correct in thinking that colour mode is beneficial overnight, the colour information captured in a white-lit video can be very useful for identification of intruders.

The spec for this unit says it has a minimum operating temperature of 0 degree, but does this mean that it will cease to work if the temperature drops below freezing, which is highly likely in the UK?
Question by: Russell on 16 Jul 2012 08:28:00
It's simply that this Vivotek FD8134V camera does not have a built-in heater, so Vivotek would not recommend it be selected for applications in countries where freezing conditions are frequent or persistent.
This is a bestselling camera, we have supplied hundreds to customers in the UK and have had no issues due to the cold.
Hope that helps ...

Could you tell me exactly how long the black cable is from the camera to the connectors please?
I'm worried that it might be a little short for my installation needs.
I'd be using POE and I want to install this camera under the soffit on a bungalow but not sure how best to route the cable as I cant route it inside the soffit unfortunately.
Question by: Jake on 15 Apr 2012 12:04:59
The cable to the camera connectors is 500mm long.

I bought 4 of these from you to go with the free ST7501 viewer program running on a dedicated PC. Picture quality is absolutely fantastic however on a 1TB hard disk i can only get 3 days worth of recordings with the 4 cameras. Can i tweak the settings somewhere to improve the number of days i can store? Currently everything is set to defaults.
Question by: Colin on 12 Mar 2012 19:23:51
The camera's recorded frame rate has the biggest impact upon storage.
For instance, if you are recording video at say 20 images per second, then reducing this to 10 images per second will halve the amount of storage space required for a given number of days of video retention.
Check which video stream the software is set to record (this model of IP camera offers four individually configurable video streams), then log into the camera, select Video and adjust that stream accordingly as follows.
We recommend recording continuously, at the camera site, with the resolution set to the highest resolution that the cameras can deliver, using the h.264 video CODEC (the most bandwidth and storage efficient), and the frame rate set to 5 frames per second.
Always review some recorded footage at various times over days subsequent to making any setting adjustments to make sure that playback of recordings is suitable for your needs.
Glad to hear that you're pleased with the image quality from these 1 Megapixel IP cameras.

Is the camera pan, tilt and zoom??
If so, can it be controlled from a remote computer?
Can the video be viewed on an Iphone?
Can I have 2 or more cameras on the same system?
Question by: John on 29 Oct 2011 12:06:10
It's a fixed dome, so not pan/tilt/zoom (PTZ).
You can access and view network cameras from a remote computer via the internet.
Yes, you can view from an iPhone - bear in mind that Vivotek's own iViewer iPhone App actually accesses their ST7501 recording software at site, so you may need to select another App for direct access to the cameras.
Yes, you can have lots of IP cameras on a single system - as a rule of thumb a PC will typically be able to manage recording from about 30 cameras.
If you just want remote viewing access without local/at site recording then you'll need to set up each camera to port forward to a separate port at your web IP address.
Hope that helps.

I bought one of these cameras following an attempted break-in at our home, and have installed it on the outside of our house facing the car.
It took quite a bit of setting up, as there are myriad con...
