Axis Live Privacy Shield makes it easy to remotely monitor activities whilst safeguarding privacy in environment such as schools, hospitals, care homes, offices, and shops.
The edge based application supports two different methods, motion-based and AI based (on supported cameras). This allows users to mask humans or the background in real-time live video or recorded video at no extra cost.
Using Motion Based Dynamic Masking, the application masks any pixel changes (which are essentially moving people and objects) compared to the motionless set background. It has been designed for use indoors where scenes are lit with good, stable lighting.
Whereas when using AI-Based Dynamic Masking, the application analyzes live video for human forms, allowing users to mask both moving or stationary humans. Alternatively it can also mask the inverse if the background contains sensitive information. Please note, the AI-Based masking is supported on cameras with a DLPU (Deep Learning Processing Unit), currently, the supported cameras are:
Axis Live Privacy Shield allows users to chose between colour or mosaic/pixel masking. Colour masking provides the greatest form of privacy protection whilst movement can still be seen. Mosaic masking shows the moving object or human in an extremely low resolution so users can better distinguish forms by seeing the objects colour.
The application applies dynamic masking to the camera's entire field of view by default, however users can easily determine and define the areas with no masking to meet their requirements.
Furthermore, Axis Live Privacy Shield lets users simultaneously use the camera's standard static privacy masking feature together with dynamic masking. Static privacy masking can be applied in areas where masking is permanently needed. Users can also choose to configure the system to simultaneously deliver a separate video stream with no masking, allowing authorised users to access details where required, in case of an indecent.
