Details
Veracity's PINPOINT adapter allows IP video installers to easily set up and focus Power Over Ethernet (POE) enabled cameras. No temporary local power source for the camera is required, as PINPOINT enables the camera to draw its power from the installed POE network cabling, whilst re-directing the actual Ethernet network connection to a local laptop, netbook or even PDA.
This camera focusing adapter is a simple, yet extremely useful installation tool for IP cameras. Temporarily inserted into the network connection, PINPOINT passes through POE from the network to the camera whilst diverting the network connection to a local connection for a laptop or netbook. Thus it allows the accurate positioning of the camera including fine-tuning of viewing angle and especially focus, which is critical for megapixel cameras.
The below diagram shows the PINPOINT is inserted between the POE network and the IP camera, diverting the IP camera network connection to the local PINPOINT RJ45 port for a laptop connection.
Veracity's PINPOINT adapter solves a common problem. How do you view the image or configuration page of an IP camera locally, without disconnecting it from the network and losing POE power? By routing POE to the camera, and diverting it's network connection to your laptop or PDA, PINPOINT lets you get your camera focused and set-up quickly and accurately.
Follow the simple steps to use the PINPOINT device.
Disconnect the POE Network Connection to the IP camera
Insert the PINPOINT flying network lead into the IP camera
Insert the POE network connection into the PINPOINT
The camera will now power up normally
Connect a laptop or netbook to the PINPOINT network port
Run the IP camera configuration program
Adjust camera direction, lens settings and config as required
Save configuration settings in the IP camera
Physically lock down the IP camera mount/lens adjustments
Disconnect laptop or netbook
Disconnect the POE network connection from PINPOINT
Disconnect PINPOINT from the IP camera
Reconnect the POE network connection to the IP camera
The camera will now power-up with the correct settings
Re-use PINPOINT for the next IP camera installation
