The Veracity COLDSTORE CSTORE8-2U-UK is a reliable storage system with increased throughput and performance. This 8-bay system can support up to 160TB capacity but will immediately be compatible with future, larger disk options. It is ideal for smaller projects where affordable high storage capacity , extended disk lifetimes, long file-retention and simple system management are required.
COLDSTORE 2U is simple to configure, manage and monitor through Veracity's universal site configuration tool, SITESCAPE. This Windows application allows automatic device discovery configuration of settings, analysis of disk and a basic level of diagnostics.
With LAID technology, combined with SFS, the COLDSTORE 2U produces a powerfully simple system which can provide generous storage capacity at low cost. Although simple in concept, it delivers a highly reliable storage system which dramatically extends disk lifetime.
Disks are used sequentially, with all of the disks not in use being switched off to save power, this also greatly reduces the the working temperature, vibration and wear which are common causes to disk failures. To do so, the system uses a unique mirrored overlapping-pair writing pattern. This delivers redundancy of RAID1 on write, but unlike RAID1, it does not require double the number of disks.
Due to the sequential disk filing system, vibration from the read/write heads is eliminated and temperature is lowered. On average, every disk is off for 87% of the time as the use of sequential overlapping mirrored writing pairs require only two active disks at any one time.
The CSTORE8-2U-UK has been built around an industry standard main-board system with a power-efficient CPU and standard disk backplanes. Even when fully populated with 160TB, it will only use approximately 40 watts. Thanks to the low power usage, component lifetime is extended.
