Product Questions (9)
I look after an empty house. There is no computer/router equip installed.
I want to install a wireless camera which will show the room etc and which I can monitor from my PC at another address.
Ideally, after local installation with a laptop, the camera will transmit images directly to some external point (web address) to which I will have internet access and account authority.
Will this camera system do that?
Question by: Ed Boyle on 11 Aug 2012 09:35:37
You need to be able to connect this IP camera to a wireless network router with an internet connection. The wireless signal reach is unlikely to be sufficient for the router to be placed in another building, so realistically you need an internet connection and router in the empty house before you can set up a network camera there ...

We cannot recommend using cameras indoors to look outdoors through a window, you just get too many issues with reflections ...

I already have a storage options ip camera. However like most ip cameras with IR they cannot be used to look through glass into the back yard because the IR reflects back on the window and blocks the view when it gets dark.
I'm looking for another internal ip webcam i can sit on my window sill to go with the one i have that has no IR (or can be turned off) and can be used to view outside from inside. I don't want an external ip camera.
Will this one work through Storage options software as a second Camera and does it have IR on it?
Or can you suggest another camera that would do the trick ?
Question by: Mick on 29 Jul 2011 18:13:46
The best solution really is to deploy an outdoor IP camera with built-in infra-red LEDs. As you've experienced, you can't use cameras with IR LEDs indoors because the IR LEDs simply reflect back off the inside of the glass. Some customers have been satisfied with an indoor camera with low-light capability looking outdoors from inside and making use of whatever outdoor lighting you have.
Unfortunately, the Storage Options software will not record the EyeSpy247 cameras. EyeSpy247 do provide their own CCTV recording software. The F+ model does not have built-in infra-red.

I have virgin broadband and linksys router will this camera work ok without port port forwarding procedure
Question by: ROB on 5 Jul 2010 14:35:03
The EyeSpy247 F+ should be able to use uPnP (universal plug & play) to connect to your Linksys router and set the correct settings for port forwarding. However, if it fails to do so then you will need to configure the port forwarding manually. Port forwarding must be configured if you want to be able to view video from your camera from the internet.

Can Several Cameras be connected in a house and then viewed remotely via a single software that displays all 4 or so cameras on one screen?
also, since it has a speaker, can a pre-recorded message be played if the auto-detection detects movement?
Question by: J Smith on 16 Feb 2010 16:37:15
For remote viewing, EyeSpy247's web interface provides you with a link to each camera that you register. When you click on that link the camera will open in a new window. You can re-size and position the window as you wish. Therefore, you could manage to view four cameras remotely at once, but not in a single window / quad view.
For local viewing, on a PC on the same network as the cameras, EyeSpy247 provide CCTV recording software for their cameras (on a CD in the box) which will allow you to quad view four cameras at once.
No, this camera cannot play recorded messages, take a look at the Axis M1031-W if you need that feature.
Hope that helps ...

How long is the power cable between camera and transformer?
Question by: KAR on 17 Jan 2010 17:52:02
The cable length is 1.5 metres.
We sell 3m extension cables for the Y-cam range, but unfortunately they are not compatible with the barrel connectors on these EyeSpy247 cameras. We will source some suitable extension cables for the EyeSpy247 cameras shortly and add them to the webshop as a Related Product option.
