Customer Reviews
I only have it set up on a 46" Sony Bravia HD and, the picture is fantastic, so i'd like t think that it would be excellent on a 4K display.
I only have one camera set up at the moment, but the device has the facility to operate 8 devices with PoE, which is monitored within the network display so you can keep an eye on PoE loading.
The built in PoE switch is great, if you connect a device that does not need PoE it will not supply power but you may use this for data, particularly handy if you're using PoE devices and wish to work on them without needing to supply 12v separately.
NVR is pretty quiet even with the stock fan, minimal transmission of vibration to the surface it sits on from the HD or the Fans. It's a shame the NVR isn't fitted with rubber feet to stop sliding/scratching on smooth surfaces but to be honest in a "pro" set up you'd rack mount the device anyway!
The software on the device itself is at least reliable - but it looks about 10 years old and doesn't delight.
The unit sounds like a jet engine - totally unnecessarily. I've had it 5 days and I've already replaced the two fans inside for quiet Noxtua ones to make it acceptable to share a house with.
And the worst feature - the web software doesn't work at all in any modern browsers. Not Chrome, not Firefox. Even with dodgy plugins no luck. So the only way to view the video feeds remotely is via app. The provided Hikvision app seems acceptable but third party ones like tinyCam Pro seem a bit nicer to use.
All in all I can't help feeling a little bit miffed that I didn't get more for my money. But like I said, the basics are covered.
