The Powerstar Base 4 is a rack mountable or standalone solution which can deliver a maximum of 25W POW on each of the 4 coax channels by using an external PSU. The unit also incorporates SafeView™, a row of detailed LEDs which can be found on the end panel providing immediate information about the status of your connection.
Veracity's HIGHWIRE technology delivers high reliability, full 100Base-TX Ethernet in all conditions. This offers consistent, predictable, IP video network performance, even with today's high resolution HD and 4K IP Cameras.
LINKLOCK provides a secure barrier to unauthorised access to your network. It works by detecting any disconnection / re-connection or tampering with any part of the cabling between the Base unit and the IP camera or other POE device.
Externally mounted IP cameras could potentially leave an exposed network connection which could be used by attackers to access the rest of the network and potentially disabling the surveillance system. LINKLOCK prevents such attacks by completely disconnecting power and data for that channel whenever it detects a tampering attempt.
The POE power connection and data transmission is constantly monitored by LINKLOCK, which can detect even subtle changes or interruptions in the transmission characteristics. If such changes are detected, LINKLOCK will trigger disconnection and alarm. Once the cause of the alarm has been determined, users can re-establish the channel via the reset pins.
In the diagram below, the HIGHWIRE Powerstar Base 4 unit is connected to 4 legacy coaxial cable links. At the camera ends, there are single-channel HIGHWIRE Powerstar Camera units connected to each link. The original analogue cameras are replaced by new IP cameras which are connected to HIGHWIRE Camera units. The Base 8 unit is powered by a Veracity 57V PSU and power is delivered up the coax to power the HIGHWIRE Camera units which, in turn, power the IP cameras.
