Both channels of TandemVu to non-PoE NVR

Hello,

I've been pulling my hair, and cursing like a mad sailor while trying to connect my DS-DS-2SE4C425MWG-E/26(F0) (fw. ver. 5.8.2) to DS-7616NXI-I2/VPro NVR (fw. ver. 5.5.370).

LAN2 of the NVR and the IP of the IPC are in the same subnet. LAN1 of the NVR is its WAN.

No matter how I configure or connect the TandemVu to the NVR, I don't seem to be able to get the option to add both IPC channels. The NVR just adds the camera to D1 and shows a red "network exception"...

I've spent several days of my life in research, but to me it seems that it's just some bug.

Was anyone able to add a TandemVu to a V5 non-PoE NVR? If so, how?

Disclaimer: I don't have your specific equipment, thus my observations/comments are nothing more than a best guess. I'm unable to test anything I've put forward.

Observation / Comments:
  1. I don't understand this "shows a red "network exception"...". You'll need to sort this out or provide more details.
  2. Are you using the WEB UI or the NVR's UI to configure the 2nd channel ? AFAIK, the 2nd channel can not be done via the WEB UI. Use the NVR's UI instead.
  3. Using the NVR's UI.... navigate to Device --> Video Device --> select the IPCamera X, then select the D_ channel. It appears a new Channel List panel should display, allowing you to add a 2nd channel to an unoccupied D_ slot.
  4. See the attached pic where I made a futile attempt to add a 2nd channel to IP Camera 3. Of course, in my case, when I selected D3, D3 does not support a 2nd channel. (actually none of my cameras support a 2nd channel). I suspect a 2nd channel might be displayed in the yellow circled area. In any event, my testing stopped there.
Maybe you can get some mileage out of the above. Or maybe not. Good luck.

Hey!

Thanks for the input!

I am not seeing what you are in your GUI. Top-tier Hik, I guess?

I was able to add both channels of the camera only via the web UI. I connected a laptop to the sam subnet, logged in into the NVR, and voilá! The prompt was there! Not a chance via the NVR GUI, though. I hate Hik so much!

Good that you discovered the WEB UI scenario worked for you. Yeah, it's a PITA when HIK puts out firmware that works in the WEB UI and not in the NVR UI, or vice versa. HDD Groups comes to mind, and now the 2nd camera channel. No doubt there's more.

BTW, the NVR UI pic I posted earlier is from my DS-7616NI-M2, Firmware Version V5.04.081 build 260112. Not top tier :) but current firmware on an M Series is all. Cheers!
