Replacement camera lead dahua

Hi there, I have a dahua IP camera that is not powering on and i suspect it could be the camera lead. POE wattage is showing 1.3w

Is there a place where i can get a spare leads please? The dahua ones on here appear to have two connectors, a 12 pin and 14 pin

Replacing the cable assy can be messy, the hole the cables goes through will not pass a pre terminated cable as the hole is too small to get connectors through.

The plug maybe corroded. I’ve cut Ethernet sockets off and replaced with an rj45 plug. Then used a f-f connector to connect camera to the network. Wire colours maybe non standard but can be tapped with a dvm on continuity with tone.

The 12 pin connector J1 looks like Ethernet as it goes to 8 test pads. Again with a DVM you can measure poe voltages etc.

Not yet, let’s figure out what’s going on first.

I see the alarm cable has been cut, looks like blue, grey, black, green wires.

Why do you think it’s the Ethernet cable?

After a power cut this camera stopped working. When connected to multiple ports on nvr it was showing 1.3w I tried factory reset on the nvr same thing. Tried hard rest with camera in position with house wiring. To rule out house wiring I took camera down (those wires were like that already) tried 1 meter long cat5e directly into the nvr, same thing. Tried POE injector in back of router , nothing, back of nic on pc nothing. So suspect something with the camera

it could be the NVR PoE power supply at fault, if the only cable connected to the camera was ethernet then the camera should be getting PoE power from the NVR. You should be able to power the camera using a 12Vdc power supply with a suitable dc barrel connector. check the dc connector pin polarity before connecting. these days the barrel connector centre pin is usually positive +ve, check first.

the router power injector connector maybe PoE input only, to supply ethernet data and dc power to the router.

is this your camera?

What are the maker / model numbers of your router and NVR?

Yes , just mine mine has the 'P' at the end of the camera model number.
The POE injector I used is here pictured
Router is a sky SR102 This one
NVR This one

Would of thought the POE injector would provide power ?

Would have thought the POE injector would provide power ? misunderstanding, I thought the poe injector was part of the router.

do you have another poe powered device to test the power injector poe output and NVR port poe supply?

there is a possibility that after the NVR factory reset camera ports PoE output is disabled.

is the camera ethernet socket ok, no corrosion etc?

dont forget to try a 12Vdc power supply for the camera.

later I'll try to check the links to see if I can glean some more information.

Thanks. Can't seem to see any corrosion, but the cable cover (white) is a bit wrinkled in areas. Could the camera be dead dead?

a wrinkly cable does not mean a bad cable, to be sure it needs to be tested with a multimeter or similar.

if the NVR and PoE injector poe supplies are good then the camera is probably dead. when you connect the camera to a PoE supply do any camera internal / external LED's flash, flex the camera ethernet cable as well. you may need a darkened room to see the led flashes properly.

did you find an external power 12Vdc supply to test the camera?

Thanks David, no lights or anything. Will try 12v DC later. I guess i plug that in and then into back of router / computer nic and see if it shows up ?

Make sure the 12Vdc supply is the right polarity for the camera, the camera lead may have a label on it showing polarity. Cameras are usually +12Vdc on the barrel connector centre pin. Post images of labels etc and I can check.
