Hello everyone,
I'm looking for some advice regarding a Hikvision system that I'm currently troubleshooting. I've spent a considerable amount of time investigating the issue and would appreciate any insights from those familiar with older Hikvision NVRs and newer IP cameras.
The NVR has been in service for several years and currently manages multiple Hikvision IP cameras.
Several cameras are online and working correctly through the NVR, including cameras with addresses such as:
These cameras display live video normally.
We recently purchased two new Hikvision DS-2CD1043G2-LIU cameras.
The cameras were:
Assigned addresses:
Camera 1
Camera 2
Subnet Mask:
Gateway:
Both cameras are visible in SADP and show as:
From my laptop, I can see both cameras in the ARP table:
192.168.254.30 -> 04-ee-cd-4a-8d-34
192.168.254.31 -> 04-ee-cd-4a-8d-a1
This suggests:
The DS-3E1510P-EI/M correctly detects the connected devices and shows active links on the relevant ports.
When attempting to add the new cameras to the NVR:
The NVR reports one of the following:
Offline (IP camera does not exist)
or
Unknown Error
The cameras never come online.
While troubleshooting, I discovered that this issue may not be limited to the new cameras.
Several existing channels are also showing:
Offline (IP camera does not exist)
Examples include:
These cameras were reportedly connected and operational at some point in the past, although I cannot verify exactly when they stopped working.
At the same time, several other cameras remain online and fully functional.
This has made me wonder whether the problem is broader than just the newly purchased cameras.
Current status resembles:
D03 Online
D04 Online
D05 Online
D07 Online
D08 Online
D10 Online

D06 Offline (IP camera does not exist)
D09 Offline (IP camera does not exist)
D11 Offline (IP camera does not exist)
D13 Offline (IP camera does not exist)
D15 Offline (IP camera does not exist)
The new cameras were added to available channels but remain offline with either:
IP camera does not exist
or
Unknown Error
One thing that stands out is the age difference between the NVR and the new cameras.
DS-7716NI-SP
Firmware V3.4.5 build 171229
DS-2CD1043G2-LIU
Firmware V5.8.10 build 250714
There is roughly an 8-year gap between the firmware generations.
I am wondering whether the NVR firmware may be too old to properly support these newer G2 cameras.
IP Address: 172.23.5.234
Subnet Mask: 255.255.254.0
Gateway: 172.23.4.10
192.168.254.x
The NVR already communicates successfully with several cameras on the same 192.168.254.x range.
Any advice or suggestions would be greatly appreciated. I've verified cabling, activation, IP addressing, switch operation, and camera visibility in SADP, but I'm now unsure whether I'm dealing with a compatibility issue, an NVR firmware limitation, or a wider NVR configuration problem.
Thank you in advance for your help.

System Overview
NVR
- Model: DS-7716NI-SP
- Firmware: V3.4.5 build 171229
PoE Switch
- Model: DS-3E1510P-EI/M
- Firmware: V3.0.13 build 241120
New Cameras
- 2 × DS-2CD1043G2-LIU

Existing Installation
The NVR has been in service for several years and currently manages multiple Hikvision IP cameras.
Several cameras are online and working correctly through the NVR, including cameras with addresses such as:
- 192.168.254.18
- 192.168.254.28
- 192.168.254.6
- 192.168.254.8
- 192.168.254.23
These cameras display live video normally.
Problem Description
We recently purchased two new Hikvision DS-2CD1043G2-LIU cameras.
The cameras were:
- Successfully activated using SADP
- Assigned unique IP addresses
- Connected through the Hikvision DS-3E1510P-EI/M PoE switch
Assigned addresses:
Camera 1
- IP: 192.168.254.30
- MAC: 04-EE-CD-4A-8D-34
Camera 2
- IP: 192.168.254.31
- MAC: 04-EE-CD-4A-8D-A1
Subnet Mask:
- 255.255.255.0
Gateway:
- 192.168.254.1
What I've Verified
SADP Detection
Both cameras are visible in SADP and show as:
- Activated
- Correct model numbers
- Correct firmware versions
- Unique IP addresses
ARP Verification
From my laptop, I can see both cameras in the ARP table:
192.168.254.30 -> 04-ee-cd-4a-8d-34
192.168.254.31 -> 04-ee-cd-4a-8d-a1
This suggests:
- The cameras are powered
- The switch is forwarding traffic
- The cameras are physically connected
- There are no duplicate IP addresses
Switch Status
The DS-3E1510P-EI/M correctly detects the connected devices and shows active links on the relevant ports.
NVR Behaviour
When attempting to add the new cameras to the NVR:
- Protocol: HIKVISION
- Management Port: 8000
- Username: admin
- Correct camera password entered
The NVR reports one of the following:
Offline (IP camera does not exist)
or
Unknown Error
The cameras never come online.
Additional Observation
While troubleshooting, I discovered that this issue may not be limited to the new cameras.
Several existing channels are also showing:
Offline (IP camera does not exist)
Examples include:
- D06
- D09
- D11
- D13
- D15
These cameras were reportedly connected and operational at some point in the past, although I cannot verify exactly when they stopped working.
At the same time, several other cameras remain online and fully functional.
This has made me wonder whether the problem is broader than just the newly purchased cameras.

D09 Offline (IP camera does not exist)
D11 Offline (IP camera does not exist)

The new cameras were added to available channels but remain offline with either:
IP camera does not exist
or

Firmware Concern
One thing that stands out is the age difference between the NVR and the new cameras.
NVR
DS-7716NI-SP

New Cameras
DS-2CD1043G2-LIU

Network Configuration
NVR LAN1
IP Address: 172.23.5.234
Subnet Mask: 255.255.254.0
Gateway: 172.23.4.10
Camera Network
192.168.254.x
The NVR already communicates successfully with several cameras on the same 192.168.254.x range.
Questions
- Is the DS-7716NI-SP officially compatible with DS-2CD1043G2-LIU cameras?
- Has anyone successfully connected G2-LIU series cameras to this older NVR model?
- Is there a recommended firmware upgrade path for the DS-7716NI-SP?
- Could the issue be related to camera authentication, security settings, or protocol compatibility?
- Given that several older channels are also showing "IP camera does not exist", could this indicate a broader NVR camera-management or internal network issue rather than a problem with the new cameras themselves?
- Are there any known limitations on the DS-7716NI-SP regarding newer Hikvision firmware generations?
Any advice or suggestions would be greatly appreciated. I've verified cabling, activation, IP addressing, switch operation, and camera visibility in SADP, but I'm now unsure whether I'm dealing with a compatibility issue, an NVR firmware limitation, or a wider NVR configuration problem.
Thank you in advance for your help.
