NVR = DS-7616NI-M2/16P

Just purchased two DS-2DE7A432IW-AEB cameras and cannot for the life of me get Smart Tracking to work.

Now these are my first PTZ cameras I have owned / purchased so never setup Smart Tracking before.

Watched a load of videos and it looks easy enough I don't have the option to enable Smart tracking like the tutorial videos on YouTube.

Latest firmware on my NVR which is V5.04.081 build 260112

Any advise from the experts why my recorder is not showing the tabs I want.

Some camera settings cannot be accessed from the NVR menus.

I think, in the case of configuring Smart Tracking, you would need to log into the cameras directly.

Hi Dan, trust me I’ve logged into each camera via the web browser (Edge) and that’s where I’m looking for the tabs.
I will keep searching YouTube and the web for further tutorials but thanks for the reply my friend.

I don't have that camera, but I suspect it has very similar menus to my DS-2DE4A425IWG-E camera.

Smart tracking is enabled in the VCA menu by setting a smart event like intrusion detection to start tracking when the event is detected...

Turn on "Tracking Linkage" for the event in the VCA menu here...

Also, make sure "Enable Park Action" is turned off here...

Hello John, sorry just got home from work.

Looks like I have similar settings to you and similar enabled / disabled but my camera never moves when someone walks past the detection area.

The flashing lights work as normal and it records to the hard drive but I'm strugging to get the camera to actually track with movement.

Now I know it's obviously a setup issue on my behalf but I will get there with a little help so please bear with me.

You can fine tune them later, but start with "Wait to lower tracking speed if low validity" maxed out, also the same for "Wait to stop tracking if low validity"...

Can you tell if the event is being activated? Set the event threshold to 0, and the event sensitivity to 100 to start... if you get to many false events, you can lower these later....

Hello again John, I think we might be getting to the crux of the problem, I haven't got the advanced tab on my screen, is there a way of enabling it.‍

If you check on your NVR, are you sure the event is being activated? The smart event, intrusion detection like this...

Hi John, Device Management leads you to a Audio Device page as seen here.

Then yes I am getting activated pictures / videos through although the thumbnail isnt showing like yours is but the videos do play.

OK, those are motion detections not smart events... I think the problem is your smart event is not being activated and without that, tracking won't start...

I checked on my camera to see where I could confirm intrusion detection is being activated... what do you see if you query here (set "Major Type" to "Alarm")...

Here we are..... Nothing John.

Now I have found an older firmware, but I really dare not install it as 1: Older firmware is going backwards. 2: It may brick my camera.

@johnfitzy .... Would like to update this thread and thank you very much for your input too.

Finally found the previous firmware which is V5.8.10_251220_S3000723189 and installed it to my PTZ cameras and low and behold both have the "Smart Tracking" tab which has allowed me to enable my cameras to track, Quite an easy setup once I have the tabs to enable it but one question............. Why oh why did they remove this feature from a very expensive camera. Beggars belief really.
