I have a DS-7608NI-E2 / 8P with 5 x DS-2CD2385FWD-I cameras. System was installed approx. Nov 2017 on a home network.
I updated the firmware versions in Nov 2024 with great assistance from the forum moderators. Cameras are updated to V5.6.6 Build 210625 and NVR updated to V4.61.030 Build 240123.
The dilemma now is do I upgrade the whole system, NVR only, or just keep updating firmware for both. Especially not knowing the lift span of the HDD and system electronics.
There are so many NVR options out there it has become confusing. Price point will probably be a major consideration to upgrade. The original system was purchased locally Australia but has been accepting EU firmware updates no problems. For my setup I probably can't see any more than 5 - 8 cameras with PoE.
Any advice much appreciated. Also, any further advice on the next firmware updates.
On another note, I have 3 x cameras on a shed connected to a TL-SG1008PE (4 PoE ports) on a single cable between shed and house and back to the router with the NVR connected to the router. Cameras assigned to NVR no issues. I was hoping to feed the cameras directly to the NVR and was attempting to follow this advice here https://www.use-ip.co.uk/forum/thre...-a-single-poe-port-on-my-hikvision-nvr.10550/ on this forum. Will this work with this model of NVR DS-7608NI-E2 / 8P? When they mention PoE switch, is the TL-SG1008PE a PoE switch?
Thanks in advance for any advice.
